Morocco's Benaissa named 2008 top Cultural Personality |

Former Moroccan Minister Mohamed Benaissa was named Cultural Personality of the Year in the 2008 Sheikh Zayed Book Award, an Emirati awards committee announced on Monday (March 17th). The award was given in recognition of Benaissa's unique contribution to Arabic culture by founding the Asilah Festival for the arts. The Sheikh Zayed Book Award is an
independent award conferred by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage. Established in 1978, it is given in nine diverse categories. Libya's Ibrahim al-Kouni won the Literature Award and Morocco's Mohamed Saadi received the Young Author award.
